Say Good Morning to Nuffnang 2.0!
Yes, the team at Nuffnang are a cheeky lot!!!
In our most recent blog entry, we claimed Nuffnang.com would be facing downtime so we could update our servers.
Update our servers we did! Only with the brand new NN2.0!
Surprise! Good morning! And let us take you on a tour of the site.
Before I do that, let us all note that as with every new piece of software out there, NN2.0 is still in the Beta phase, and there will be bugs, so we are counting on our users to report them to us via the helpdesk.
What has changed?
OOOHHH SOOO HANDSOME!!!
The look of Nuffnang has been completely revamped. Along with our logo, it has a totally new identity. One that is cool, suave, and sophisticated.
Nuffnang.com has only been around for 10 months, and this is our 3rd facelift! We are never one to stay still, and will continue to improve on that end to keep up with the trends.
The entire site has been hard coded in CSS, so it is of global site status (No more pages breaking up).
Everybody say thank you to Firdauz for a wonderfully designed site!
Innit!!!? Our very own blog aggregator
Nuffnang 2.0 and indeed every version of Nuffnang, has always been a collaboration between bloggers and ourselves.
When we consulted some of our bloggers, over lunches, events and the like, we realised bloggers love audiences!
A blog aggregator was always one of the top on the “want list”. So we thought, “Why not!?”
With alooooot of traffic coming into Nuffnang in any given day, it provides the perfect audience for bloggers looking to increase their profile and audience.
We are not one to rest on our laurels though. Nuffnang will be launching PAID campaigns on our bloggers site to drive traffic to Nuffnang, so more people are reading your blogs.
Innit is also a “bridge” between the Malaysian and Singaporean communities, and is in line with our aims of forging a community. You can choose to read posts from both countries or you can choose to read blogs from your own country. The choice is yours. Key word: choice.
Blogger Login
Nuffnang 2.0 now has a beautiful control dock for our bloggers when they log in. Upload your photo *It will come in useful soon*
The main point of the navigation dock is that wheras in the past, you could not effectively navigate the public site without logging out. With NN2.0, you can now. So you can check details of the latest community event, and your stats, without needing to log out. Snippets of important information can also be found on the navigation dock links.
At the same time, you have now more information, in the way of a daily hourly stats report. So NN2.0 tells you how many visitors you have gotten in the past hour. When do people read your blog? What time of day?
You may also have noticed our graphical bar chart plug in which makes comprehending data alot easier.
Ajax! Ajax! Ajax!
No, not the dutch football team!
Ajax is an advanced web development technique, that is used so the entire webpage does not have to be reloaded everytime the user requests a change (Quoted from Wikipedia).
NN2.0 is full of ajax.
To enhance your experience, Ajax has been implemented extensively in nuffnang so you don’t have to wait for the page to reload.
Say for example from Analytics figures today, you click on the keywords tab. Whereas, in the past you had to wait for an entirely new page to load, now, it appears in an instant. Swanky eh. We like it too.
In almost every other page, you will see this kind of effect.
It’s in the details!
There are a whole host of other tiny details that we have improved on to make your Nuffnang experience better.
Let me cite just two of them. The first one, is the FAQ.
It has been updated to include questions we have encountered very often on the helpdesk. At the same time, if you scroll down, you will never lose the questions panel on the left. It follows the page, so you can refer to another question and navigate around easier. A small touch, but many small touches add up.
The second one, is for the new blogger who is signing up.
If you check out our registration form, in old forms, you will notice that errors are only detected once you click the submit button, at which time you find your password has been resetted.
As soon as you fill in one field of our form, and move on to the next, our form detects if everything is good.
Have a feel around to see if you can spot any other little features we have added for your convenience.
Advertiser Login
The advertiser login, has also been completely revamped.
The Nuffnang team has actually met up with the media and advertising agencies, and companies, to ask what they would want in the advertiser CMS. Having compiled their feedback, changes were incorporated.
A swanky ajax interface, with a intuitive campaign reporting system will keep our advertisers very well informed and up to date with important and real time perfomance figures.
More new featured are being added in line with their suggestions.
Our backend
Our backend has been completely revamped. It is now a beast of a machine that can deal with increased scale more rapidly,
intuitively, and efficiently.
It gives us more information as well, so that no blogger gets left behind, and advertising budgets are equitably allocated.
This is just the start!
The curent NN2.0 is just the start.
Many new features which will add further value to our Nuffnangers are in the pipeline and will be released bit by bit.
They will be new, cutting edge, but more importantly useful to you.
If you think you would like a feature very much, that other bloggers would appreciate, we welcome suggestions to our new
feedback channel, innovation@nuffnang.com
Phew. Ok that’s just half of what I wanted to say. Joking lah!
Thats all then! Take care! Please give a round of applause to our entire Nuffnang team. The technical team for giving us NN2.0 and the rest, who helped with the daily tasks, so the technical nuffies could get on with the job.
Timothy, Firdauz, Lee Meng, Raff, Nicholas, Skyler, Janice, Esther, Huiwen, Wenqi, Fayth, YAT, Vivian, Uncle Ronnie, and Auntie Molly! Thank you nuffle puffs!
Ming, Timothy, and the Nuffle Puffs!
