One of the ART seasons’ headline events is fast approaching!
What are we talking about? The annual M1 Singapore Fringe Festival of course!
This annual event will involve a magnificent showcase of performance & visual arts, dance, film, mixed media, music and more. The festival’s theme in 2009 is ART & FAMILY.
As usual, both local and international acts will feature.
Nuffnang’s ethos has always been supportive of the local arts scene. It is our belief that Art enriches the soul, and uplifts the spirits! In line with this ethos, we are proud to be the OFFICIAL BLOG COMMUNITY for the M1 FRINGE FESTIVAL!This means bloggers will be more engaged than ever before in the local arts scene!

Your beloved Singapore Nuffies were honoured to part of the press launch on Tuesday, 8th October 2008 at the Recital Studio, Esplanade. Typical Ben also tagged along!

We were warmly greeted at the reception area and all of us were given an interesting goodie bag. It was vacuum sealed, and the highlight was an item which highlighted the theme of Art & Family.

Raised as a Pack of Wolves
A preview of the visual narrative, “Raised as a Pack of Wolves” was lined up along the entrance to the recital hall, raising the excitement level.

Frozen Angels
What followed were enactments of 3 perfomances that will be headlining the event. This included the play Frozen Angels.
We really enjoyed watching the previews, and will definitely be getting our tickets to some of these visually impactful, thought provoking and emotional performances.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Museum of Broken Relationships
The highlight, this Fringe Festival has got to be “The Museum of Broken Relationships”
The “Museum of Broken Relationships” is a traveling exhibition which features all sorts of items donated to it, in the form of gifts from ex lovers.
Singaporeans can now participate by giving away your personal “memorable objects” embedded with memories and emotions of the past to be exhibited as artifacts of the museum.
After the event, The Necessary Stage (www.necessary.org) (The people behind the Fringe Festival) had kindly arranged refreshments at Harry’s bar where we mingle and exchange opinions with the rest of the attendees.
Many of us thought that it was an eye-opener and definitely will be a magnificent event which should not be missed out!
