A big thank you for joining us at the Nuffnang First Bloggers’ Symposium sponsored by Canon, last Saturday!

We were glad that all behind-the-scenes hard work were paid off with your support and again, it can never be done without you! The Nuffies, with our Sponsor, Canon, looked forward to the event with great anticipation. After all, no such similar event were done before. Thus, all of us were supremely excited!

Early that day, the Nuffnang Team started the pre-event preparations at SMU School of Accountancy. All dressed in red, the staff ensured that all is ready before 400 participants gushed in for registration.

Despite the rain, the participants turned up to fill the seats and to our surprise, we have exceeded the number of expected attendees.

The Symposium rolled out with a welcome speech from Nuffnang and continued with the introduction of the Mini-photo contest, “Happiness” at the auditorium. The top 5 winners gave a speech on why the submitted photos meant happiness to them and expressed why they should win the Canon Powershot S90. Participants could cast their votes during the tea break before they enter in to their respective break-up rooms. Which do you like best?

All submitted photographs were beautifully displayed in a collage for viewing.

While some were queuing for their refreshments, other took their chance to snap a shot at the Photowall, where they can bring back developed photographs as souvenirs instantly!

Soon after, we were all set and ready for the main highlights for the day, so were the guest speakers! Attendees gradually dismissed from the hallway to grab the best seats as the workshops were starting soon!

Due to popular demand, we have opened up additional slots for Xiaxue‘s followers to attend her workshop specifically which was held at the main auditorium.

Her attendees took home Photoshop tips which could enable them to turn an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan!

Her workshop was graced with Malaysia’s top blogger Kenny Sia, being the focus of make-up editing. There was an instant burst of laughter when she threatened to blog about an inconsiderate attendee who was using the phone while she was conducting. But that of course, meant to be a joke!

At the other side of  the School of Accountancy, we have Dr. Leslie Tay (IeatIshootIpost.sg) in an interactive session with the attendees. His workshop spoke about “How to create a good Food Blog” and touches on the photography techniques on “How to capture food photos” with comparisons.

In one of the break-out rooms at level 2, the fashion workshop was conducted by Fashionistas, Nicole Then (mycherrymagazine.com) the owner of a popular fashion blog and blogshop and Velda Tan (belluspuera.blogspot.com) one of the co-owners of famous blogshop Bonitochico.

Nicole spoke about taking good fashion shots and street fashion. Little gifts were given out to attendees who answered her questions correctly during Q&A.

Many would want to know about the story behind a successful blogshop. And we have Velda here sharing on her experiences. Other than that, she educates on Women’s must-have!

At the event, kids were playing and parents brought their babies with prams. They were here for Leonny’s (Oureverydaythings) workshop on Kids photography. She spoke about how she started her parenting blog and about taking photographs on active children.

We have specially prepared a kids’ room for the children so they can spend time watching cartoons while their parents were away at another room.

With just a little walk from the School of Accountancy, the geeks set off to Joe’s (Techielobang) workshop. As a events photographer, he spoke about taking good event pictures and the Do’s and Don’ts to note! If anyone is starting a blog, you should get tips from him on finding good wordpress themes.

The participants gathered back at the auditorium for the much awaited lucky draw and announcement of Mini photo contest. Congratulations to the lucky winners, they get to bring home a set of brand new Canon Powershot S90 camera each!

On this day in the year of 2007, Nuffnang started off as – in our co-founder Timothy Tiah’s words, a “leetle dotcom” – in a humble office in Penang.

Today, we’re celebrating our third anniversary together with all 130,000 of you bloggers registered with Nuffnang! WOOHOO!

In just the short span of three years, we’ve expanded our network to serve four countries – Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Australia – and the best is yet to come! We couldn’t have done any of this without all of you. Thank you so very much to each and every one of you; your support is what keeps us going and growing every day.

Over the years, we’ve had quite a few events which gave us memories we hold dear to our hearts, like our first bloggers’ meet in Penang…

As the numbers of bloggers registering with Nuffnang continue to grow to unbelievable numbers every day, our little family of Nuffies has grown too! Barely two years ago, the Nuffnang Malaysia staff looked like this:

Pretty awesome, no? We’ve truly come a long way from where we first started. Here’s to a great three years of ‘firsts’, and may there be many more to come!
