Xiaxue

Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of March

Yay! I’m the featured blogger of the month!!!

I am Xiaxue, and I’m proud to be one of Nuffnang’s pioneer bloggers. :) My blog’s url is xiaxue.blogspot.com, and you should be reading it right now if you haven’t already! It’s pretty awesome.

That’s me in a highly photoshopped picture

When Nuffnang first started Ming (co-founder of Nuffnang for ill-informed nitwits) already asked me if I’d like to be featured, but I thought that this slot oughta be given to other bloggers who needed the publicity more.

I know, I am mesmerizingly arrogant. Sorry if humility is not my strong suit!

So anyway, within the blink of an eye, it has already been TWO years! This time round I ordered Ming to give me his *special* March slot, as it is Nuffnang’s 2nd anniversary – and I’ve got things to say!

Maybe some of you have already read my first blog post about Nuffnang and have thus read the story of how I came about joining the best blog advertising network there is.

Do I regret it?

Sure as hell not!

After all… Who can feel regret with this red packet given to me by Ming, now one of my closest friends, during CNY 2009?

No, this is money from advertisers, not from me being his mistress ok

AM I A RICH BITCH OR WHAT?

Geez! With that amount I can almost buy murder! Ok lah actually I have no idea how much it costs to have a professional killer kill someone, but if I could set a price, I think 10k will probably be right.

Let me tell you a touching story, ok?

The story begins with me deciding to become the first full-time blogger in Singapore back in 2005. I am telling you now, it SUCKED.

You know how much it sucked?

Here’s an analogy: I used to work at Today newspaper as a measly intern. Whenever I interviewed anyone, people could always tell I’m just an intern, and you can literally see the condescension in their beady eyes.

Intern so what? Intern not writing the article meh, huh?!

Being a blogger was the same. Blogs were not recognised as a proper advertising platform then. We were the cheapest form of advertising, costing advertisers slightly less than it would to print flyers to stick on random lampposts.

Potential advertisers wring their hands, looking uneasily at me…

“Are you sure this will hit the right target audience? You are so controversial, I’m not sure about the association… How is this going to work? Can I just give you the product and not pay you? What is a blog ah, can explain?” YADDA YADDA etc! I had a bloody good thing at hand and nobody appreciated it!

In the end, only small companies were game enough to advertise on blogs, as well as the odd and very rare entrepreneuring big firm.

Oooohhh… Times are different now, yes…. I knew that this day would come, but I never expected Nuffnang to speed it up so much.

Who dares to disrespect Bloggers now? We’ve got Nuffnang behind us!

With the help of Nuffnang, I scored big-name advertisers such as…

- Malaysian Airlines

- Toblerone

- Canon

- Great Singapore Sale

- Motorola

- Kotex

- Loreal Garnier

- Chipster

And perhaps the best of all…

A PAID holiday to Langkawi for me and a friend –
sponsored by Awana Resorts…

One of the best holidays of my life….
Courtesy of Nuffnang…

- And many many more!

I can honestly tear now with gratitude! I would never have scored so many established advertisers without Nuffnang’s help.

And as if helping even the smallest blogger earn money is not enough, Nuffnang also organises the best parties and treats us all to movie premieres!

At Nuffnang’s famous PJ party with Boss Ming and Mike.

Flying Singaporean bloggers to KL for a party? Cmon! Who else would do that for bloggers?

Look at me, getting long-winded and mushy again…

So yeah… If you are a blogger considering whether to join Nuffnang… Ahem… May I show you THIS again?

MMMmmmmhmmm… Could be you.

Happy birthday Nuffnang, and blessed am I the day I joined your big family. :D

Bigass photo of me because I am shameless like that:

xoxo

p/s: Just in case you are wondering why I got paid such a nice round figure, it is because I still have some money left over with Nuffnang which I did not bother to withdraw.
